Trachten Bodice

Traditional waistcoats – the versatile alternative to a Dirndl

The traditional corset is cut exactly the same as the upper part of a Dirndl. It has the same wide straps and the deep square neckline. It is always cut to suit your figure, as like the Dirndl it should emphasize your female upper body curves. Many corsets are therefore laced and emphasized with ruffles on the cut of the neckline. Lacing the bodice means it can be individually adjusted to your figure and the result is a flattering, sexy Silhouette. Due to the deep cut neckline we recommend that you wear a Dirndl blouse or a traditional blouse underneath the corset. If that seems too traditional or flashy then you can also wear a plain shirt. Some corsets can be worn on their own, as they don’t have such a deep cut neckline. The bodice has an especially seductive look if you don’t wear a blouse or shirt underneath it. In our collection you can find high quality corsets from well-known brands such as Almsach, Marjo or Spieth & Wensky. They are made carefully created paying a great attention to detail and made out of linen and cotton.

Versatile traditional look

The advantage of a corset in comparison to a Dirndl: You can combine it with more items. You can make it look traditional or modern – depending on your mood.  If you combine it with Lederhosen for females or with a traditional skirt, then you have the real Bavarian outfit that can compete with any Dirndl. If you wear it with jeans or trousers then you have the young modern look and you can wear it to any occasion.  You can also get the matching accessories to suit and vary the style of the corset. With a deep cut neckline a good choice is a traditional necklace with a delicate silk ribbon and silver pendants. If the corset is a high neckline then combine it with a fancy traditional hat, a feather hair accessory or small hair clips with flowers on them. The variety of combination possibilities is possible due to the large choice of styles. At Ludwig & Theresa you can find subtle plain corsets as well as detailed corsets with embroidery.
